A calmer gaming desk starts with cable management

You do not need a perfect battlestation to make a desk feel better. A few minutes spent separating power, data and frequently moved cables can make cleaning and changing gear much easier.

Start with what is connected

Before unplugging anything, take a photo of the back of your PC and label the cables you might confuse. List the devices on your desk, then remove anything you no longer use. This keeps the job small and helps you avoid unplugging essential equipment by accident.

Route for access, not just appearance

Use reusable hook-and-loop ties to group cables loosely. Leave slack where a monitor arm moves or a laptop disconnects. Keep power supplies ventilated and avoid pinching cords against sharp desk edges. Cable trays and adhesive clips can help, but check the surface and mounting instructions before sticking anything underneath.

Make the next change easy

Keep a simple label near each end of less obvious cables. Route frequently changed peripherals separately from cables that rarely move. The result does not need to hide every wire; it should make the setup easy to understand and maintain.
