Privacy policy

1. Who we are and this policy

TopGamers.com.au is an Australian gaming gear publication. In this policy, “TopGamers”, “we” and “us” means the operator of this website. This policy explains what personal information may be handled when you visit the site, contact us or follow a retailer link.

We handle personal information in line with this policy and applicable Australian law. Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to us, we handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information we handle

Technical request information. When your browser requests a page, our hosting, delivery and security provider, Cloudflare, may process standard technical information such as your IP address, the page or URL requested (including a search term sent in the URL), browser and device details, referring page, request time and security events. This helps deliver and protect the website.

Search queries. The site's search submits your query as part of the page URL. Avoid entering personal or sensitive information into the search box.

Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive the address and any name, message, attachments or other information you choose to include. The website does not currently have visitor accounts, a contact form, comments, a newsletter sign-up, or a checkout or payment facility.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate and secure the site, respond to enquiries and corrections, manage editorial content, administer affiliate referrals, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it to build advertising profiles. We do not currently use Google Analytics or advertising pixels.

4. Cookies, fonts and external links

TopGamers does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may use essential cookies or similar technologies when needed to deliver the site or protect it from abuse.

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to request those files, so Google receives technical request information such as your IP address and browser details. Google's Privacy Policy explains how Google handles information.

Some links are affiliate links. If you follow one, the retailer (including Amazon.com.au where applicable) may receive referral and technical information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own terms and privacy policy. Those practices apply after you leave TopGamers. See our affiliate disclosure.

5. Who may receive information

We may use service providers to host, deliver, secure or support the site and to receive and manage email. They handle information for those services under their own terms. Retailers receive information when you choose to follow an external link. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of people or the website.

6. Overseas handling

Cloudflare, Google, email providers and retailers may handle information in Australia or other countries where their services and infrastructure operate, which may include the United States. The specific location can depend on the provider and service. Review each provider's privacy information for details. Where the Privacy Act applies, any overseas handling is subject to our obligations under that Act.

7. Storage and security

We keep email correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain appropriate business records and address follow-up or legal issues. Technical request data may be retained by Cloudflare under the applicable service, settings and retention periods; we do not maintain a separate visitor profile or advertising database. We take reasonable steps to protect information we handle, but no internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

8. Access and correction

You can ask us whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it or correction of information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Email [email protected] with “Privacy request” in the subject line and enough detail for us to locate the information. We may ask you to verify your identity and may withhold information where the law permits or requires it.

9. Privacy concerns and complaints

To raise a privacy concern or complaint, email [email protected] with “Privacy complaint” in the subject line. Please describe what happened and the outcome you are seeking. We will acknowledge the complaint and aim to respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). The OAIC generally asks that you first give the organisation an opportunity to respond.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when our practices or legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.

For privacy questions or requests, contact TopGamers at [email protected].
